Cleaning with Baking Soda (Bicarbonate of)

To Clean: Sinks / Baths / Oven / Fridge / Laundry / Pipes / Pans

Other uses: Carpets / Insects / Odours

1. Scrubbing sinks, bath, oven, refrigerator and laundry.

Baking Soda on a damp sponge can be used for many jobs around the house, scrubbing sinks, bath, oven, refrigerator and laundry.

It leaves everything smelling nice and clean just as good as any cleanser without scratching enamel

2. Carpet deodorising

Works great for carpet deodorising, just sprinkle onto carpet before going to bed and vacuum in the morning.

3. Pipes under the sink

Pour about one quarter cup of baking soda down the drain with about 1 cup of vinegar, this makes a chemical reaction, then pour some hot water down the drain. Hey Presto!

4. Insects
Unwanted insects, just sprinkle around cabinets and cupboards and other places the insects might run.

5. Burnt Saucepan

If you burn a saucepan put in some baking soda and believe it or not Avon's Skin So Soft whilst it is still hot and allow to soak. Apparently comes clean.

6. Odours

To minimise odours in your fridge, remove top from box of baking soda and place it on one of the shelves. From time to time stir contents.

Cleaning with Baby Oil

To Clean Shower Curtains / Stainless Steel / Greasy Stains

Shower Curtains

1. To avoid mould and discolouring.

2. Take a clean sheet of kitchen roll, put a couple of drops on and rub down the shower curtain.

Stainless Steel

1. Removes water stains from stainless steel appliances; cooking utensils; worktops etc.

2. When cleaning any stainless steal appliances in the kitchen, wipe down as normal with a damp cloth. Then use a piece of kitchen towel with a little baby oil and wipe down the surface. You can also use baby wipes, but this way is more expensive.

3. As we live in a hard water area, this is a top tip to know. It brings your stainless steel up lovely, this tip was given to me by my client Trina Kapur.

I must say I tried it and it works, could not believe it. I now have nice shiny stainless steel.

Greasy stains

1. Removes greasy stains on your hob and other appliances too. After wiping off spilt sauces etc. there will still be greasy stains left and you will frequently have fingerprints. So what better way to get rid of oil than with a different kind of oil?

2. Once other stains (sauces, salt water etc.) have been wiped off roughly, just grab a bit of kitchen roll, put a drop or two of baby oil on it and rub it over the stained area - this will remove most of the 'obvious' greasy bits.

3. Then take a clean sheet of kitchen roll, put another drop on and rub down the whole appliance (well, the steel bits anyway) evenly so that no smudges are left on it - done!

4. Since baby oil has the ability to 'integrate' other oils, wiping the whole appliance down with it will remove any smudges, fingerprints and whatnot and will (unless you have gone totally OTT on the baby oil) leave the surface sparkling clean and shiny, just as new!

Warning - salt can corrode stainless steel surfaces, and some oils used in cooking can contain added salts, so don't even think about using those instead of baby oil! The reason why it's BABY oil is that it's mild and doesn't contain an awful amount of additives, so stick with Johnson's!
